Progress
Just back from radiation #17 this morning and it was a little different today. The radiation nurse told me that my treatment was changing from treating the entire chest/lymph node area to a 'boost', targeting just the tumor area. When I was done, she showed me mapping of what was radiated before versus during the 'boost'. The boost is completely targeted to an area about 2" in diameter. (Also, out of body experience looking at a 3D computer image of your chest.) It's getting close to the end - just tomorrow, Tuesday and Wednesday. I will still have to lotion the entire radiation zone for weeks after as, like chemo, radiation is cumulative and keeps on going even when you are 'done'. But being done with the basement will be so freeing.
In MORE exciting news, I have teeny, tiny eyebrow and eyelash growth! FINALLY. Check it out...discovered this last night:
I mean, look at those tiny little hairs! I'm so proud. And the itty bitty eyelashes to be! Very exciting. I know that people lose their brows and lashes 3 to 4 times in the first year after chemo and I fully expect that to happen to me. BUT, my body is slowly working again and that's really all I needed to know. It has taken 4 more weeks than it takes the average patient for them to start growing, but I'll take it.I have a dermatologist appointment later this morning and I have a very long list of needs. Time to start getting my face back together. And then lunch and dinner with some old friends. Sounds like a good day to me. xo J
