A Really Good Thursday
Sleep deprivation aside, I had a really good day on Thursday. I got my workout in at 11:00am and came home to rest and nap to save up energy for a family outing to dinner at Contessa. Our girls love Contessa, and after last night, I have to admit I do too.
We headed into Boston early - Candace had a quick appointment (her salon happens to be right across the street from Contessa). She was feeling loose and wobbly. Turns out when I washed her, I loosened some of her fasteners (never even noticed them). She was fixed in 10 and we were ready to head to dinner.
Heading to dinner at a packed restaurant had given me pause. I mentioned on the reservation that I was immunocompromised and hoped to be put at a table far from other people. We arrived (me masked) and the bar was packed, as was the foyer, with people waiting to be seated. We checked in and were brought to the most perfect table for me - well away from everyone, at the very end of the restaurant with a fantastic view of the Public Garden.
And for the next 2 hours, I forgot I had cancer. And it was heavenly. We had the most lovely dinner and conversation. It felt so normal and carefree. Yummy squash carpaccio, lobster pasta, coconut sorbet and a decaf cappuccino. We lingered and chatted and plotted.
As we were leaving, we realized they never sat the empty table for 2 next to us, even though every other table was seated and the place was packed. Thank you Contessa for the most lovely evening.
And one Ativan and I actually slept for 5-6 hours before my 5:30am workout. I'm still riding on glow from last night, hanging onto the feeling of being carefree even though it was fleeting. It felt great. xo J
